Charmaine Solomon

Licensed professional counselor, LPC supervisor and registered play therapist. Founder and Chairman of the Board, My Possibilities

In her role as a wife of a corporate executive, mother of a blended family of four children, one with special needs, Charmaine has a unique and personal understanding of the complexities of personal and family dynamics.   Born and raised in South Africa, Charmaine has worked and studied in South Africa, England and the USA. Charmaine’s education, personal and professional experiences on three different continents, brings a richness of cross-cultural diversity, international, HR corporate business and counseling experience.   Charmaine relates well to diverse groups and has fostered relationships with many in the Plano community.

Charmaine completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Dallas and her master’s degree in Counseling at Amberton University.  Charmaine completed clinical hours working with non-profit organizations like the Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA providing counseling and play therapy services to at-risk children, youth and their families. Since 2008 Charmaine has been in private practice at Solomon Family services, specializing in working with children, adolescents and their families. Through a solution focused approach, helps individuals overcome life’s obstacles and reach their full potential.

Charmaine is a founding member of My Possibilities – A continuing education adult college like program for adults with special needs within Collin County.  Charmaine as founder initially served as a board member from 2007, and for the past 8 years has served as Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors. In this capacity Charmaine has focused on developing relationships for fundraising, expanding the board of directors, advisory board and creating various committees to include a wide range of diversity, experience and skillsets to enhance and strengthen the My Possibilities leadership and management team. 

Charmaine’s involvement in the creation of My Possibilities is very personal to her as her youngest son Kyle is an adult with special needs.  Charmaine is a special needs advocate, and a very active member within the special needs community, with a focus and passion on raising the bar on what is expected for adults with cognitive challenges post high school.

Sharon Ramage has devoted her entire professional career to helping families and children, as a social worker and as an attorney. As a former social worker, she saw first-hand the devastation that conflict causes for children and families. Since 1992, Sharon has devoted her law practice to helping families and children. Sharon primarily helps clients in family law and special education matters.

Sharon co-authored a book about children and the law, All About Texas Law and Kids, published by Texas Lawyer Press. She is frequently called upon to instruct other attorneys in the areas of her expertise. She has lectured other professionals on special education law topics by serving on the faculty of the National Academy for IDEA Administrative Law Judges & Hearing Officers as well as the National Administrative Law Judiciary Conferences. Sharon frequently lectures on special education and family law topics for local bar associations, parent groups and disability organizations.
